6/26/09 First Non-Wing of 2009
We headed southeast to Lebanon MO to compete in our first non-wing race of the 2009 season. The night started off pretty rough. We were way off on our set up in the heat race, which resulted in a very poor finish. We started toward the back of the field in the feature. The track had slicked off to the point where there was zero grip anywhere. I spent most of the race using less than 1/4 throttle and a lot of brake. I was able to drive the car to a second place finish. Over all it was a successful night, I enjoy racing non wing and wish there were more non wing races in Missouri.
3/9/09 What a Weekend!
Went to Indoor Winter nationals in Lebanon Mo to try to sell some of spare parts at the swap meet and work the pit gate during the races. During open practice Jay Renolds let me turn some laps in his Open Outlaw Kart. After I got off the track Gary Livell ask me to race his Open Outlaw that night. With help from Jamie and Jay Reynolds and Gary we were able to keep our set up one step a head of the track. I went out for the feature and turned as smooth and consistant laps as I could and ended up winning the feature event. I was shocked, I never expected my first race in an Open Outlaw Kart to end in victory lane. It was a great experience and I hope I have the opportunity to spend some more time behind the wheel of an Outlaw Kart in the future. I would like to thank Gary Livell for giving me the opportunity to race his kart.
